Step 1
Measure the top of your canvas or frame and place a small piece of tape with one edge at exactly halfway across to mark the center point
Step 2
Place the artwork at the exact location you want to hang it on the wall and hold steady and mark a dot with a pencil on the wall at the top of your artwork at the halfway mark you created. (you can also cut a piece of paper the exact size of your finished artwork and tape it to the wall exactly where you to hang your artwork. Sometimes this is easier to do since the artwork can be heavy or cumbersome).
Step 3
Measure the vertical distance from the top center point of your artwork to the hook, taut wire, or wherever the painting will hang from.
Step 4
Take the distance just measured and use your pencil to mark a small dot that number of inches below the first dot you made. This is where you will put the nail in the wall.
Step 5
Hammer the nail into the wall and hang your artwork. Stand back and admire your beautifully hung artwork and enjoy!
****If hanging multiple pieces to create a gallery wall, I suggest you cut pieces of paper the exact size and shape of your framed artwork. Using those cut outs, tape them to the wall to get your layout before you even begin to make marks. Once you have the placement to your liking, follow the steps above for each piece of art included in your gallery wall.
Enjoy your Artwork!
