As a watercolor artist living in South Florida, I am inspired by my life and the gorgeous flowers and landscapes around me. As well as the beauty that I find on my travels. I have been creating in some way all my life as I was blessed to be surrounded by many creatives and was given the encouragement to use my gifts.
When I create, I get lost in the very act of painting and the peace it washes over me and love to bring that energy and serenity to my paintings.
To be able to bring a bit of the beauty of life to you and help you create that quiet space that calms you is the absolute best feeling and I would love to share my gifts with you.
Favorite Colors - Blues and Greens (clearly pink has snuck in)
Favorite travel Destination - German Alps
Other Talents - Singing
Favorite time of Day - Morning when it is quiet
Growing up in Florida meant spending a month at the beach with my family, getting sand in our toes and hair, doing seashell craft projects and talking our daily walks to find more shells.
Wiith a creative grandmother and mother, some kind of arts and crafts were going to happen. We drew, painted, cross stitched, learned embroidery, quilling…and so many other creative pursuits. When my children were little (they are adults now), I wanted to share the same with them. We had plenty of art supplies to spark their imagination, as well as mine.
I vividly remember doing some drawings for my grandmother and she would remind me that I needed to make them darker. I wanted to be able to erase completely any mistakes I made. She encouraged me to go ahead and make the mistakes. Sometimes, there are happy accidents in the mistakes.
I exhibited at craft shows for several years selling purses and bowls that I had created out of gourds but due to allergies and time constraints, I moved away from gourds as my main medium.
After that, a step back and volunteering to make props and alter costumes for a competitive high school marching band. It was still very creative and made me step WAY out of my comfort zone and declare loudly that I am an artist. I mean covering a 21 ft tall pyramid in fabric is quite a thing, as well as a pharaoh’s chair with all the hieroglyphics included (on wheels, of course, to get it on an off the field).
Moving into watercolors is a more gentle way to express my creative passion and share it with all of you.
